I love these colorful friendship necklaces! Maybe I will do some stashbusting and make a chunky version using leftover yarn. Like just about every other American female out there, I used to make friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss in grade school. I remember having three main “stitches” in my repertoire, and this spiraling cover stitch was one of them (also used for tying strands of embroidery floss into your hair, if you dared)–the others being the classic diagonal stripes or chevrons made by tying half-hitches in adjacent pairs of cord.
